Enfocus PitStop Extreme  PitStop Extreme is the latest addition to the PitStop product family from Enfocus. Where PitStop Professional enables PDF editing inside the familiar environment of Adobe Acrobat, PitStop Extreme is a standalone, high-efficiency alternative. It was conceived from the ground up to quickly check and correct even the most complex PDF files. Anyone familiar with applications such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign will feel instantly familiar with the editing environment offered by PitStop Extreme. Compliance with standards such as PDF/X or the Ghent PDF Workgroup specifications was a major design goal for PitStop Extreme. The Enfocus preflight engine is built-in to check and correct PDF files at any stage during editing. Certified PDF technology at the core of PitStop Extreme safeguards PDF file quality as you fix it. PitStop Extreme has substantial advantages over Adobe Acrobat to edit PDF files, but if you are already viewing a certain file in Adobe Acrobat it might be more convenient to fix it up right there. With PitStop Extreme you have that option as it comes with a complementary license for PitStop Professional, which can be used on the same system. Giving you complete flexibility. Why is PitStop Extreme different? There are many reasons PitStop Extreme is different from other PDF editing and quality control applications. The most important ones are: • PitStop Extreme is optimised for efficiency. The editing capabilities of PitStop Extreme were not a feature bolted onto the application after the facts: they are in fact the reason the application exists. This allows for a user interface geared towards editing PDF files and makes it a snap to edit even complex files. • Editing with confidence. Editing PDF files always introduces questions about liability and responsibility. PitStop Extreme uses the robust Enfocus PDF technology to make sure nothing is changed unless you want it to be changed; there are no unwanted or unnecessary format conversions as you’re editing a file. And PitStop Extreme is built on top of the Enfocus Certified PDF technology which tracks edits and constantly guards the quality of the file. Key Features • Accurate viewing and high performance editing PitStop Extreme provides true and uncompromising preview of any PDF file, exactly as it will be printed. To inspect the file in detail, use the unlimited zoom, fast switching to outline preview, viewing of separations, transparencies, overprints, total area coverage, etc. Accurate measuring tools as well as an on-screen densitometer are available to quickly establish the dot percentages that will appear on plate. In PitStop Extreme, any object is easily accessible and editable. Its contents can be verified and modified in every possible way. Quickly change colours, add strokes, modify clip paths, fix page boxes, and as PitStop Extreme is fully PDF 1.7 compliant, work with layers or even modify shadows and transparencies. When document-wide changes need to happen, build and execute standard Enfocus PitStop Action Lists to query and change the objects in the PDF file in any conceivable way. • Full text editor PitStop Extreme has a full-fledged text editor on board, working right on your native PDF file. It not only gives access to characters, words or text lines, but even paragraphs are recognised on the fly. As such, it becomes a snap to edit your text with paragraph reflow or change the justification. It is even possible to link different text blocks on the page together and have text reflow correctly while editing! • Transform objects – Edit images In PitStop Extreme, any object can be moved, scaled or rotated interactively or by numbers through the comprehensive transformation palette. By using the align tools, multiple objects can swiftly be aligned or distributed. PitStop Extreme also offers the capability of using an image editing application to edit your image content. Saving the image simply transfers the modifications straight back into the PDF document in PitStop Extreme. And if complete pictures need to be replaced, just select them in PitStop Extreme, point to the new image or image version on disk, and the image appears straight in the PDF file again, maintaining position, scaling and rotation. • Dealing with transparency PitStop Extreme offers you complete flexibility when it comes to working with PDF files containing transparency. If you prefer to retain the transparency, you can edit the file without ever changing the transparency in the file. If you choose not to work with transparency, PitStop Extreme can easily and reliably flatten all transparent objects in the file. • Document resources With PitStop Extreme, controlling your resources (separations, images and fonts) becomes easier than ever before. Add separations to your PDF document, convert separations to CMYK, or easily access images and fonts. Images can be converted using ICC profiles and even text content can be checked. • Preflight and Save as Certified PDF After editing, PitStop Extreme saves the edits back to the PDF file, touching only the modified objects. As such, even non-printing objects like metadata are kept in the PDF file. Whilst saving, the operator can chose to preflight his file with an Enfocus PDF Profile, and even completely work within the Enfocus Certified PDF workflow. PitStop Extreme saves all modifications to a Certified PDF session in the PDF file, so they can always be tracked using the History palette in PitStop Extreme or within PitStop Professional.
