Dropbox Alternative – Day Two at InfoSecurity Europe

With the sun beating down outside you could have been mistaken in thinking the IT community would stay away from Earls Court, but day two of InfoSec was packed.

Pro2col had the pleasure of assisting on the Globalscape stand, on what is traditionally the busiest day. With Chaz and Chris Thacker both providing demos the stand was busy and the message was coming through loud and clear; IT Professionals want a Dropbox Alternative.

A study by security distributor e92plus that I read at the show highlighted that some 76% of IT Professionals in the UK had Dropbox at the top of its list of banned
technologies. This was very much reflected by the conversations we had and the demonstrations of Globalscape solutions provided.

The most popular solution by far was Mail Express. Visitors loved the web based functionality and MicroSoft Outlook plugin. The Drop Off Portal also proved a big success as IT admins learned how they could provide a hands off facility for large files to come into the business without the need for setting up FTP accounts or clogging up email servers with attachments.

Award for the Best Managed File Transfer Vendor goes to…

According to a recent study of managed file transfer vendors undertaken by the Info-Tech Research Group, one of our key vendors GlobalSCAPE received the highest praise and was afforded the award of best managed file transfer vendor. With the economy showing no signs of improvement Pro2col is bucking the trend with May 2012 being our best month of trading ever, in fact 2012 has showed great promise. Our selection of managed file transfer vendors is paying dividends as we strengthen our relationships and knowledge of their technology moving us into the key supplier for several vendors. Additionally our work with the reseller channel is seeing growth as we provide our expertise to the general reseller channel.

GlobalSCAPE’s achieved one of the highest ratings in the latest Managed File Transfer (MFT) Vendor Landscape Report from Info-Tech Research Group released this week.
Linoma Software gains FIPS 140-2 accreditation for their GoAnywhere software, achieving the benchmark required by many organisations in the public and private sectors.
Biscom’s BDS continues to gain traction in the legal sector with a number of new customers following their recently released version 4.2 which provides secure collaboration and an iPad app.
FileCatalyst have been busy with their recently released FileCatalyst Central for managing and monitoring multiple servers. Additionally performance has been improved to 10Gbps and an iOS app is now available.

An update from Infosecurity 2012

Yesterday was the first day of Infosecurity 2012 one of, if not the biggest IT Security Shows in Europe – and it was a busy one. Not only that, the war of the most outlandish gimmick was in full force, so be prepared for talking dogs and 7-foot robots if you’re planning to visit!

We’re helping out on the GlobalSCAPE stand this year (check out their stylish booth), as they’re showcasing their latest products for the first time here in the UK – Hosted Enhanced File Transfer Server™ (EFT Server™) and Secure Mobile Access™. As GlobalSCAPE’s primary reseller’s in the UK, it’s been a great opportunity for us to spend some more face-to-face time with the GlobalSCAPE team.

There’s been a lot of interest from businesses spanning all sectors, looking secure their data transfers and comply with regulations such as PCI DSS and The Data Protection Act.
